There was a interesting article in flight safety saying if you dont check this,it,s like driving around with a frozen wind screen in the car. I could never get the web site to work for me until I was passed this by Nigel Everett

Every time I come clean and admit to some error of judgement I seem to leave myself wide open for ribbing, (What Cessna and alike), but hey! what the hell here I go again............... Not so long back myself and Alun managed to find a farmstrip just outside Kidwelly, and I mean just outside. Everything was fine until the summer came and the dreaded grass started growing, of course the farmer wanted to make use of the grass for his livestock and it was not long before it was impossible to fly from the strip until it was cut. After a phone call to the farmer on one particular day, he promised that the grass would be cut later that week and I would be able to make use the strip on the weekend. Saturday morning was looking good, warm but overcast (little to no thermals) When I got there to my utter disappointment the grass was untouched, so in effect I could not fly.
If I had checked, or known how to check the notams as now explained by Martyn I would have seen that The bloody red arrows were flying a display that very day in kidwelly carnival as a thank you to the locals for putting up with the low flying jets using the bombing range at Pembrey! If the grass had been cut, well you can imagine what sort of trouble I could have found myself in. So thank you Martyn for the info, I will be looking into it asap.
Phil ( what red arrow where?)
